Onion Sauce Recipes

Ingredients :

1 large onion

25g butter

25g flour

50ml milk

salt and pepper to taste

Method :

Peel and chop the onion. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onion and cook slowly for 10 minutes. Do not let it brown. Stir in the flour. Cook slowly for 2 minutes. Do not let it brown either. Take the saucepan off the heat. Slowly add the milk and stir well. There must not be any lumps of flour. If necessary, beat the sauce hard with a wooden spoon. When you have added all the milk, bring the sauce to the boil. Stir all the time. Let it boil for about 3-4 minutes, still stirring all the time. Add the salt and pepper.

Serves 4-6
