Turnip Casserole Recipes

Ingredients :

2 tbsp butter

1 1/2 cups chopped green pepper

1 1/2 tbsp finely chopped onion

1 tbsp flour

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/2 cup chili sauce

1/4 cup water

4 cups 3/4 inch (2-cm) cubes turnip, cooked

1/2 cup grated Gruyere cheese

Method :

Heat oven to 350F (175C). Butter a 8-cup (2-liter) casserole. Heat 2 tbsp butter in medium saucepan. Add green pepper and onion and cook gently until onion is very lightly browned, stirring. Sprinkle in flour, salt and pepper and stir to blend. Remove from heat and add chili sauce and water. Stir to blend. Return to moderate heat and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in cooked turnip. Pour into prepared casserole. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake about 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and mixture is very hot.
