Cantonese Pentagonal Rice Dumplings Recipes

Ingredients :

600g glutinous rice

300g skinned green peas

300g pork belly

bamboo leaves

dried straw

2 salted egg yolk

4 mushrooms

37.5g dried shrimps

Seasoning (For Marinade) :

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

small amount of five spice powder

Method :

Cut the pork belly into small cubes, marinate them in marinade seasonings over night. Wash the glutinous rice and skinned green peas, soak separately in water for at least one hour and drain. Add 1 tsp of salt to the glutinous rice, mix well.

Soak the shrimps and mushrooms in water. Halve each egg yolk and mushrooms. Fold the bamboo leaf into pyramid cup, fill the shrimps, mushrooms, add salted yolk in half of it, press hard cover with skinned green peas and glutinous rice one after an other. Wrap into a pentagon-shape package, tight with dried straw steam over high heat for six hours. Serve
