Garlic Shrimps Recipes

Ingredients :

250ml (1 cup) oil

60g (2 oz) butter, cut into 4 cubes

8 garlic cloves

20 raw king shrimps (prawns), peeled and deveined, tails left intact

2 tbsp chopped parsley leaves

Method :

Heat the oil, butter and garlic in a pan. When bubbling, add all the shrimps and cook until they turn pink. Preheat the oven to 210C (415F/ Gas 6-7). Heat four ovenproof serving dishes in the oven until quite hot. Remove the dishes from the oven and place 5 shrimps in each dish. Spoon some oil into each dish. Sprinkle with the parsley and serve with crusty bread.

Variation : Give your garlic shrimps a little extra bite by adding two sliced red chilies to the butter, when you add the garlic. Remove the seeds from the chilies first.

Note : Garlic shrimps can also be cooked on the barbecue. Divide the oil among four flameproof dishes. Add a cube of butter to each dish and heat the barbecue. Crush 2 cloves or garlic into each dish. Heat the dishes on a barbecue flatplate until the butter is very hot and bubbling. Add 5 shrimps to each dish and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the prawns are pink and cooked through. Sprinkle with the chopped parsley and serve with bread.
