Steamed Fish Recipes

Ingredients :

medium sized pomfret, slit on both sides of the body

pieces fresh ginger, cut into strips

black mushrooms, soaked in hot water for 20 minutes or longer, shredded

light soy sauce

sesame oil

vegetable oil

stalk spring onion, chopped

oyster sauce

salt and pepper to taste

Method :
  1. Place the cleaned fish on a ovenproof glass platter and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Mix the sesame oil, oyster sauce and light soy sauce together.

  3. Heat a pan with 1 tablespoon oil and stir fry the mushrooms.

  4. Pour in the mixed sauces and stir.

  5. Remove from heat and pour over the fish.

  6. Sprinkle the ginger over the fish.

  7. Place the plate in a steamer, cover and steam for 8-10 minutes.

  8. Note that the water in the steamer should be boiling when the plate is placed on it.

  9. When the fish is cooked, remove from the steamer and garnish with the spring onions.

Serves 4 - 6
