French beans

cooking banana

yam

large onions

green chilies

cumin

water

grated coconut, ground

yoghurt

turmeric powder

oil

sprigs curry leaves

salt to taste

Method :
  1. Wash and cut the vegetables lengthwise into 5 cm strips.

  2. Put vegetables into a pan with water, turmeric and salt.

  3. Cover and cook for 20 minutes.

  4. When the vegetables are cooked, add all the ground ingredients and cook on low heat.

  5. Stir well.

  6. Add the curd and mix well.

  7. Cook for 5 minutes then remove from heat.

  8. Add 1 tablespoon oil to curry leaves, and sprinkle on the avial.

Serves 4 - 6
