1.5 lb sirloin or rump steak, trimmed of
excess fat and cut into 4 pieces
mustard powder
2 oz butter
garlic salt and pepper
1 large onion, finely sliced
12 oz mushrooms, chopped
2 tbsp brandy
5 fl oz double cream
Worcestershire sauce
Method :
Flatten the steaks slightly and
coat it in mustard powder.
Melt 2 oz butter in a frying pan
and fry the steaks, adding garlic salt and pepper to taste.
When cooked, remove the steaks and
keep warm.
Add the sliced onion and mushrooms
to the pan, adding a little more butter if necessary, and cook for
3-5 minutes, until the onion is cooked.
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce,
brandy and cream, and season with garlic salt and pepper.
Stir until well mixed, then pour
the sauce over the steaks and serve immediately, accompanied by
salad leaves.
Serves 4
Cook 3/4 in steaks for 210 seconds each
side for rare, 4 minutes each side for medium, and about 6 minutes each
side for well done. Take care not to overcook them.
