Yangnyeom Galbi (Marinated Prime Rib) Recipes

Ingredients :

2 pounds beef prime rib (specially cut beef for galbi is available in Korean grocery stores), sliced 1/4-inch thick

3 white mushrooms, stems removed

1 thick slice of onion

 

Marinade -

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup granulate sugar

1/2 Asian pear, peeled and grated

1/2 onion, peeled and grated

2 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp Korean rice wine

1 tbsp mirin

Method :

Mix all the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl. Add the beef slices to the bowl and coat them evenly with the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate for 2 hours in the refrigerator.

To cook the galbi at home, put a little cooking oil on a frying pan over high heat. Once the frying pan is hot, cook the beef for about 1 minute per side. Reduce the heat to medium and cook to desired temperature. Cook the mushrooms and onion and serve along with the beef.

Serves 2

When you are almost done with the meat, they bring out the cooked rice along with soup or a similar dish. But how you serve it at home is entirely up to you.
