Macaroni Cheese Recipes

Ingredients :

90g uncooked macaroni

350ml Savoury White Sauce

1/2 tsp dry mustard

ground black pepper

4 tbsp grated low fat hard cheese

Topping:

2 tbsp grated low fat hard cheese

4 tbsp dry breadcrumbs, optional

Method :
  1. Two thirds fill a medium sized saucepan with water.
  2. Bring to a rapid boil, add macaroni and cook until al dente (firm, but tender to bite) 10-12 minutes.
  3. Drain.
  4. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the Savory White Sauce.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni, mustard, pepper and grated cheese to the white sauce and stir gently to combine.
  6. Lightly grease a shallow casserole and spoon in the macaroni mixture.
  7. Top with grated cheese and breadcrumbs.
  8. Place under the grill or on the top shelf of the oven and heat until the topping has melted and turned golden brown.
  9. Serve hot, accompanied by a plain green salad.
