Beef Putri Manis Recipes

Ingredients :

500g fresh Australian beef blade, topside, knuckle, cut into cubes

4 tsp clarified butter / ghee

1 piece cinnamon stick

3 cardamoms

4 pieces clove

5 pieces shallots

3 pieces garlic

2 cm fresh ginger

2 tsp chili paste

2 tsp coriander powder

2 tsp cumin powder

2 tsp fennel powder

1 cup water

4 tsp thick tamarind juice

salt and sugar to taste

2 large potatoes, cut into wedges and deep-fried

2 large tomatoes, quartered

Method :

Heat butter and fry cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves. Add minced garlic, shallots and ginger. Add chili paste, coriander powder, cumin and fennel. Fry until fragrant. Add beef and water. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for 30 minutes or until beef is tender and sauce starts to thicken. Add tamarind juice, salt and sugar. Stir well and add potatoes and tomatoes. Cook for another 2 minutes before serving.

* Clarified butter: Melt butter in a hot pan until cream evaporates.
