Plain Boiled Rice Recipes

Ingredients :

400g long grain rice

1 tbsp vegetable oil

700ml boiling water

1/2 tsp water

Method :

Wash and drain the rice several times in cold water until the water is no longer starchy. Put the rice in a heavy saucepan, add the vegetable oil, water and salt. Stir once to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan and simmer for 10-12 minutes. After this time, remove from the heat, cover and allow the rice to steam in its own heat for a further 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork or chopsticks before serving.

A small amount of vegetable oil added to the rice will enhance its natural flavor.

Serves 4 - 6
