Heat ghee and fry the sliced
shallots, garlic and ginger until fragrant.
Add in the cloves.
Put in water and salt, cover the
pot and bring to boil.
Stir slowly and lower the flame to
cook the rice thoroughly.
To serve, you can garnish with
fried sliced shallots or raisins.

When cleaning rice before cooking, the
Malays believe that you should put back into the container a handful of
rice. This is to ensure that there will be a continuous supply.
