Vietnamese Fruit Salad Recipes

Ingredients :

350 ml

rock candy or crystal sugar

boiling water

small watermelon or a whole honeydew melon

different fruits (fresh or canned), such as pineapple, grapes, lychees, rambutan, banana, papaya, mango or kiwi fruit

crushed ice cubes

Method :
  1. Make a syrup by dissolving rock candy in boiling water, then leave to cool.

  2. Slice about 7.5 cm from top of melon, scoop out flesh, discarding seeds, and cut flesh into small chunks.

  3. Prepare all other fruits by cutting them into small chunks the same size as the melon chunks.

  4. Fill melon shell with fruit and syrup.

  5. Cover with cling film and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours.

  6. Serve on a bed of crushed ice.

Serve 4-6

If using canned fruit with syrup or natural juice, you can use this instead of making syrup for the dessert.
