Chili Soup Recipes

Ingredients :



1 tablespoon

1/2 pound



2 tablespoons

2 teaspoons

small onion

cloves garlic

vegetable oil

hamburger meat

16-ounce can red kidney beans (or try black beans or pintos)

15-ounce can crushed tomatoes

tomato paste

chili powder (or more to taste)


Method :

  1. Coarsely chop the onion.

  2. Pass the garlic through a garlic press.

  3. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and add the onion, garlic, and hamburger.

  4. Sauté until the hamburger is cooked and the onion is softened, 4 to 5 minutes.

  5. Drain and rinse the beans and add to the pan along with the tomatoes, tomato paste and chili powder.

  6. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, until sauce is thickened.

  7. Taste and season with salt and more chili powder if desired.

Serves 2-3

Crushed tomatoes and canned beans are the key to a speedy homemade chili. If you have frozen hamburger, thaw it quickly in the microwave.
