Goanese Fish Curry Cooking Recipes

Ingredients :

large pomfret, cleaned and sliced

cloves garlic, crushed

chili powder

turmeric powder

green chilies


salt to taste

a small bunch coriander leaves, chopped

a walnut sized ball of tamarind, soak in 1/2 cup water and extract juice


Ground fine

grated coconut


black peppercorns, ground fine

onion, chopped

Method :
  1. Rub garlic, chili and turmeric powder and salt into fish slices and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry whole green chilies.
  3. Pour in ground ingredients, tamarind juice and 11/2 cups water and bring to boil.
  4. Add fish slices and salt to taste, and cook for a few minutes more or until fish is done.

Serves 4 - 6
