Ingredients :

lemon grass

piece galangal

piece fresh turmeric

dried chilies

beef, cut into 2.5 cm strips

long beans, cut into 2.5 cm lengths

walnut sized ball tamarind, soak in 1 cup water and remove juice


Method :
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the ground ingredients until brown and fragrant.
  2. Add the beef and tamarind water and simmer gently till beef is tender.
  3. Add more water if necessary.
  4. Add long beans and cook till gravy thickens.
  5. Add salt to taste, stir well and dish out.

Serves 6 - 8
