Beef In Tamarind Sauce Recipes

Ingredients :

750 g

beef cut into pieces

oil

tamarind juice, from walnut sized ball of tamarind

salt to taste

Grind together

dried chilies

shallots

piece fresh turmeric

piece galangal

candlenuts

piece belacan, toasted

stalks lemon grass

Method :
  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the ground ingredients till fragrant.
  2. Add the meat and fry for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour in tamarind juice and bring to the boil.
  4. Season to taste and simmer over low heat until meat is cooked and gravy thickened.

Serves 6 - 8

Note :

Pork can be substituted for beef.
