medium sized fish, sliced into 3 cm thickness

stalks bunga kantan (ginger flower), cut into fine strips


red chilies

cloves garlic

piece ginger

piece fresh turmeric

piece shrimp paste

candle nuts

tamarind pulp, mixed with 2 cups water and strained


salt and sugar to taste

Method :
  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry ground ingredients until fragrant.

  2. Add in the shredded kantan, tamarind water and salt.

  3. Bring to boil and add in sugar to taste.

  4. Add the fish slices and simmer until the fish is cooked.

Serves 4 - 6
