Ostrich Strips in Haw Sauce Recipes

Ingredients :

250g ostrich fillet

3 tbsp beaten egg

1/2 cup cornflour


1/4 tsp cooking soda

1 tbsp water

1/2 tsp sugar

1/2 tbsp light soy sauce

1/2 tbsp cornflour

a little pepper


100ml water

3 rolls haw flakes

1 tbsp sugar

Method :

Shred ostrich fillet thickly. Mix in cooking soda and water. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Stir in remaining marinade ingredients. Marinate for 30 minutes. Stir beaten egg into ostrich fillet and then coat each strip with cornflour. Heat half wok of oil. Deep fry ostrich until golden. Take it out from the oil and set aside. Reheat the oil and deep fry the ostrich again until crispy and light brown. Drain excess oil. Bring the sauce ingredients to the boil, and simmer for 10 minutes until it thickens. Stir in ostrich and toss well. Haw flakes is a ready to eat snack. It gives the sour taste and a red color to the sauce. It is more convenient choice than fresh haw.
