Red Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients :

red wine

red wine vinegar

small red cabbage, cored and shredded

medium cooking apple, peeled, cored and diced

medium onion, sliced

redcurrant jelly

salt and pepper

Method :
  1. Heat the water, wine and vinegar to just below boiling point.

  2. Add the cabbage, apple and onion and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  4. Stir in the redcurrant jelly and add more seasoning if needed.

  5. Serve hot.

Serves 4

Note : This dish is traditionally served with game, beef, pork and ham.
